COURSE OUTLINE

DAY 1

Welcome – Executive Director (8:00 – 8:15 a.m.)
Introduction to the Program – Director of Clinical Services, Parent Consultant & Resource Coordinator (8:15 – 9:00)
Observe two-week intensive therapy with a child, placing parents hometown therapist (9:00 – 12:00)
Process with Parent Consultant (12:00 – 12:30)
Lunch on your own.
Session on the Process: Therapeutic – Director of Clinical Services;
Parenting – Parent Consultant (1:30 – 4:30 pm)

DAY 2

Process any questions re: therapy with therapist (8:45 – 9:00)
Observe two-week intensive therapy (9:00 – 12:00)
Process with Parent Consultant (12:00 – 12:30)
Lunch on your own.
Session on Life Scripting – Family Sculpturing (1:30 – 4:30)

DAY 3

Process any questions re: therapy with therapist (8:45 – 9:00)
Observe two-week intensive therapy (9:00 – 12:00)
Process with Parent Consultant (12:00 – 12:30)
Lunch on your own.
Session One - Basic Training for Parents (1:30 – 4:30)

DAY 4

Process any questions re: therapy with therapist (8:45 – 9:00)
Observe two-week intensive therapy (9:00 – 12:00)
Process with Parent Consultant (12:00 – 12:30)
Lunch on your own.
Session with Psychiatrist: Observe psychiatric evaluation. Process 
evaluation, discuss differential diagnosis, Bi-polar disorder, Medications (1:30 – 5:00)

DAY 5

Process any questions re: therapy with therapist (8:45 – 9:00)
Observe two-week intensive therapy (9:00 – 12:00)
Process with Parent Consultant (12:00 – 12:30)
Lunch on your own.
Session Two – Basic Training for Parents (1:30 – 4:30)

WEEKEND

On your own.

DAY 6

Process any questions re: therapy with therapist (8:45 – 9:00)
Observe two-week intensive therapy (9:00 – 12:00)
Process with Parent Consultant (12:00 – 12:30)
Lunch on your own
Session - PTSD and working with Placing/Birth Parents (1:30 – 4:30)

DAY 7

Process any questions re: therapy with therapist (8:45 – 9:00)
Observe two-week intensive therapy (9:00 – 12:00)
Process with Parent Consultant (12:00 – 12:30
Lunch on your own.
Session –
     A) Working with therapists
    B) Revisit Family of Origin Issues (1:30 – 4:30)


DAY 8

Process any questions re: therapy with therapist (8:45 – 9:00)
Observe two-week intensive therapy (9:00 – 12:00)
Process with Parent Consultant (12:00 – 12:30)
Lunch on your own.
Session – Implementation of Parenting Strategies (1:30 – 4:30)
Evening Session – Dinner and visit in therapeutic foster home – focus on parenting teenagers. (5:00 – 9:00 p.m. approximate)

DAY 9

Process any questions re: therapy with therapist (8:45 – 9:00)
Observe two-week intensive therapy (9:00 – 12:00)
Process with Parent Consultant (12:00 – 12:30)
Lunch on your own.
Session – visit in therapeutic foster home – focus on parenting 
latency age children. (2:00 – 5:00 )

DAY 10

Process any questions re: therapy with therapist (8:45 – 9:00)
Treatment Planning/Parenting with two week intensive. (9:00 – 11:00)
Session – What’s next? Working within systems. Developing Safety/ Risk Management Strategies. Developing team support.
Taking care of yourself. ( 11:00 – 1:00)

APPLICATION

Admission Criteria:
1) Must have significant foster parent experience.
2) Must complete psychological testing.
3) Must have agency connection/reference letter.
4) Must have an ACE training therapist to work with.
5) Must complete an application.

COST

$2,000 per person. Lodging included.
Meals and transportation on your own.
                 -OR-
$1,500 per person, Lodging NOT included
Meals and transportation on your own.
