Workshop Description

Increasingly in our communities and in our society, we are facing a tidal wave of children whose lives have been irrevocably changed by the ravages of some form of very early abuse and/or neglect. Whether arriving from foreign orphanages or found right here at home in our own foster care system, the early occurrence of abuse and neglect has altered the very foundation of personality and indeed, we understand now, the structure of the developing infant brain. These children often disrupt family placements, and go on to fill residential centers, group homes and our juvenile justice system. They are frequently unable to utilize the forms of therapy and services we have offered them.
